The doctors are on the minor surgery, maternity and child surveillance lists and are qualified to provide contraception, IUCD, Implanon insertion and cervical smear services.

All the doctors provide 24 hour medical cover with the assistance of the “Out of Hours” services provided by Rhondda Cynon Taff Teaching Local Health Board.

Practice Manager

Mrs. Ann Brown BSc Professional Practice (Health Care Studies) DipHE Professional Practice (Practice Management) is in charge of the organisation and the business side of the practice. If you have any queries or complaints of a non-medical nature, she will be happy to help.

Nurse Practitioner

Mrs. Myrna Rees Ha MSc BSc is an experienced Nurse Practitioner who has completed extensive additional education and clinical training. She has attained a Nurse Practitioners Masters degree, having dramatically expanded her scope of practice over the traditional Practice Nurse role. Nurse practitioners, acting within their professional boundaries, treat both physical and mental health conditions through comprehensive history taking, physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic disease and then provide appropriate treatment for the patients, including prescribing medication. Nurse practitioners have a unique approach and stress both care and cure. Besides clinical care, they focus on health promotion, disease prevention, health education and counseling. They help patients make wise health and lifestyle choices.

Practice Nurses

Mrs. Dilys Jones (RGN FPCert.) Breast and Cervical Screening Cert.
Mrs. Carol Pullman (RGN, Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Cert. DNCert.)
Our practice nurses, with doctors in attendance, run clinics such as diabetes, asthma, well woman, family planning, hypertension, childhood immunisation clinics, travel vaccine, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease etc.

Health Care Assistant

Mrs. Lisa Mountjoy assists the qualified nurses with blood and urine tests, blood pressure and ECG monitoring.

Phlebotomist

Mrs. Helen Davies assists the nurses in the withdrawal of blood for testing.

Secretary

Mrs. Kim Dixon does all the secretarial work for the practice.

Receptionists

There are five receptionists who organise appointments and visits, deal with queries and give information and results to you. The receptionists are your first contact with the practice. They have the experience to fulfill a wide variety of tasks and to ensure the smooth running of the surgery. It is a difficult and demanding job so please be patient and courteous to them at all times. The team members are:

Our practice is supplemented by other personnel from the Cwm Taf NHS Trust and other agencies.

District Nurses

District nurses work in co-operation with the doctors to provide care in your home.

Health Visitors

The practice has three health visitors who are nurses that have further training in family health care and education. They are particularly concerned with children’s health care and immunisation. They are available by telephone on 01443 740058.

Midwives

Midwives provide care for expectance mothers. They also visit you at home and run antenatal clinics. They are your link with the hospital maternity services and may be involved with delivering your baby.

Dentist/Chiropodist

A dentist and chiropodist run regular clinics at this practice.

Physiotherapy

This service is provided by the Local Health Board and a clinic is held at the practice on Monday and Thursday morning for patients who have been referred by their doctors.
